Job Description:
As a Vice President, you will take an active role in helping to expand our growing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practice at Teneo, managing client accounts day-to-day and supporting broader firm and business development initiatives. You will have direct exposure to public company management teams and Boards and will play an instrumental role in advancing ESG workstreams to achieve client objectives. A Vice President within Teneo Strategy & Communications is a client-facing member of our account teams, and this role is responsible for executing Governance and Sustainability / ESG initiatives in support of Teneo clients.
Responsibilities:
- Lead execution and project management efforts on client ESG projects and workstreams, including producing client-ready ESG deliverables, such as presentations, decks, and memos on topics including ESG strategy, ESG materiality, reporting and disclosure, regulations, targets and KPIs, and performance benchmarking
- Run large-scale, cross-border, cross-functional ESG mandates, such as a global, multi-stakeholder ESG materiality assessment or a global supply chain engagement strategy
- Lead execution and project management for client ESG advisory engagements and workstreams, including team management, time allocation, and milestone tracking
- Support ESG business development efforts through pitch and proposal development, as well as participating in pitch meetings
- Support the development of corporate ESG reporting and disclosure strategies, including project management, content development, and framework alignment (ISSB / SASB, GRI, TCFD, etc.)
- Act as a subject matter expert on mandatory ESG reporting requirements including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), SEC rulings on ESG-related matters, and the like
- Lead ESG ratings and rankings submissions on behalf of clients with key providers including S&P Global, EcoVadis, MSCI, Sustainalytics, JUST Capital, etc.
- Develop a variety of materials based on comprehensive research and analysis (e.g., sustainability reports and ESG disclosures, climate commitments, quantitative scoring / data models, key message documents, etc.)
- Help clients identify and escalate ESG risks and opportunities; establish priorities based on strategic direction, considering multiple perspectives and interdependencies
- Contribute to thought leadership on emerging Governance & Sustainability trends and issues
- Take the lead on mentoring, training, and integrating junior teammates
- Assist with Teneo’s own corporate ESG efforts, including contributing to the continued development of Teneo’s own ESG commitments, goals, and program
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant industry or field
- Minimum 6+ years of related work experience that includes direct experience in an ESG or sustainability-focused role
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in management consulting, investment banking, equity research, investor relations, corporate strategy, and / or sustainability and ESG consulting preferred
- Experience communicating with senior audiences (C-Suite level) on ESG, climate change, and sustainability topics
- Demonstrated expertise in ESG, including strong understanding of key issues and familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, ratings agencies, and evolving regulatory developments
- Understanding of the ESG landscape and knowledge of leading ESG influencers and organizations, including relationships where relevant
- Ability to translate sophisticated investment and sustainability topics into easy-to-understand memos and presentations
- Excellent writing and presentation skills with extremely high attention to detail
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and partner at all levels of the organization globally
- Preferred experience with the following topics: carbon accounting, Science-Based Target setting, climate scenario analysis, circular economy, nature-based solutions
- Proficient with FactSet, Capital IQ, and Bloomberg as well as ESG databases like MSCI ESG Manager, S&P Global, LSEG / Refinitiv, the ISS platform, etc.

Base Salary Range $140,000 – $160,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).

Flexible Work Policy
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the New York and San Francisco offices, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of three times a week.
