About the role:
Chanel is seeking an energetic, purpose driven Group Director to participate to the development and implementation of the US region’s Social Sustainability strategy, a key pillar of the House ambition and roadmap on Sustainability. The role will report to the US Head of Sustainability in the design and oversight of the Social Sustainability roadmap across our US region value chain. The role will work closely with our corporate Social Sustainability team based in London, and cross-functionally with teams such as Procurement, Legal, Human Resource, L&D, Operations etc.
What impact you can create at CHANEL:
- Strategic thinking – Undertake research and analysis of the existing and emerging social issues across our operations and supply chains in the US, and update social sustainability priorities for the region, in line with the Company’s House Ambition on Sustainability
- Roadmap design – Support the design and update the Social Sustainability roadmap for the US region
- Business integration - Onboard and raise awareness of US functions and business teams on social sustainability impacts and challenges related to their scope and activity, and create a community of practice through adequate guidance documents, processes and tools
- Program management – Deploy Social Sustainability programs in collaboration with external experts to support our strategic business partners’ capacity to drive social transformation on issues such as fair wages, gender or racial equity, ethical recruitment or just transition, co-designing practical, impact-driven solutions for the benefit of workers across globalized value chains
- Global collaboration – Coordinate with a network of Social Sustainability focal points across the company to enrich a joint community of practice through shared return on experience, best practices and technical training
- Reporting - Support the Head of Sustainability for the US region to track social performance and KPIs, and regularly update the company’s external extra-financial reporting

What you will bring to the team:
Significant work experience in human rights or social sustainability within the private sector, with a good understanding of the US specific challenges and landscape Business & Human Rights standards and where they sit within the global geopolitical and economic landscape.
- Technical expertise on social sustainability topics such as fair wages, gender or racial equity, ethical recruitment or just transition, with a proficient knowledge of impact program typologies, methodologies and tools
- Track record of successful program management and delivery, coordinating multiple contributors, workflows and projects
- Demonstrable spoken and written communication skills, editing and proofreading skills, as well as attention to detail. Proficiency in a second language, preferably French, is a plus
- Previous experience working with or for a Civil Society Organisation or an NGO involved in social impact work would be a plus
- Minimum of 10 years social sustainability experience
Position Logistics:
- Partially Remote: Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the Piscataway, NJ offices

Compensation:
- The anticipated base salary range for this position is $133,000 - $170,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
