The HYBRID ESG Reporting Analyst will primarily be responsible for various projects related to GATX’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) mandatory and voluntary reporting and disclosure efforts. This position sits within a small team that also has responsibility for Investor Relations, Community Engagement, and External Communications. There will be opportunities for the ESG Reporting Analyst to contribute to those functions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage reporting efforts related to ESG raters and rankers (EcoVadis, S&P CSA, ISS, MSCI, etc.), including monitoring performance and recommending areas of improvements.
- Support efforts to evaluate and/or deliver on global ESG reporting (e.g., SASB, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, Modern Slavery Acts, etc.); tasks may include researching regulations and associated definitions, managing project timelines and ensuring projects stay on track, identifying opportunities to strengthen internal controls in the data collection process, and compiling various inputs and organizing them into a presentable format
- Respond to customer ESG surveys in a consistent manner with input and guidance from internal subject matter experts; maintain database of responses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EHS, Legal, Commercial, Procurement, HR, etc., to capture data and insights for accurate and comprehensive reporting.
- Participate in the preparation and updates of documents/policies that are included in the sustainability section of the Company’s website.
- Stay informed on the evolving ESG landscape, including industry trends, competitor activities, and global regulatory changes that may impact the company.
- Support the broader Investor Relations, Community Engagement, and External Communications team with various ad hoc tasks and projects.

The role will interact internally with leaders & subject matter experts of multiple departments, including Financial Reporting, IT, HR, Legal, Environmental, Health, and Safety, and Commercial.
Education and/or Experience Required:
- BA/BS required.
