Our ESG efforts involve nearly every department in the organization, including EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety), Facilities, HR, Supply Chain, Product Design/R&D, Legal, Finance and Investor Relations. The ESG Project Specialist will play a critical role on the ESG team, supporting the implementation of the Responsible Manufacturing Program, EU (European Union) Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive due diligence efforts, and general ESG employee engagement activities.
Key Attributes And Responsibilities
- The position will be on Applied’s ESG team reporting to the Senior ESG Project Manager
- Strong cross-functional engagement with Legal, Supply Chain, HR and other teams to identify and drive responsible manufacturing practices that comply with Applied’s Human Rights Statement Principles and the Responsible Business Alliance’s (RBA) Code of Conduct (Applied Materials is a member of the RBA)
- Assist in the development of RBA training materials, internal assessments, and communications to worldwide operations and other stakeholders
- Proficient communications skills to assist with the execution of ESG communications to all levels
- Assist with the project management of the annual sustainability reporting process through stakeholder engagement, report generation, data collection, and design
- Support the preparation and implementation/execution of compliant Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive of the European Union (CSRD) reporting; closely monitor CSRD developments and build networks with peers on CSRD interpretations and best practices
- Serve as the ESG ambassador, fostering the engagement of employees across the organization by energizing passionate employees through the development of employee ESG campaigns and events
- Meet regularly with regional sustainability green team members to communicate key priorities, align on progress, and build relationships; expand green team network
- Support reporting for key ratings and rankings including MSCI, HRC CEI, Sustainalytics, ISS (Institutional Shareholder Services) and others
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an environmental or sustainability-related field
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with non-financial reporting and ESG standards and reporting frameworks and ratings, including SASB, TCFD, SDGs, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics and S&P
- Experience with RBA (Responsible Business Alliance) Code of Conduct
- Knowledge of – and ideally, experience in – businesses with complex supply chains
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with intelligent communication platforms to drive employee engagement through customized content creation and analytics
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders of multiple levels; be a team player
- Collaborative and flexible style, with an approach to work that motivates and energizes others
- Must reside in the Santa Clara vicinity and be able to work from headquarters upon demand. Average of 2+ days per week onsite.
