The Contracts Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of contracts related to BEF’s programs and projects. This position requires expertise in drafting, reviewing, and monitoring contracts to ensure compliance with legal standards and organizational policies. Primary Duties:
Contract Drafting and Review
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure they align with BEF’s policies and objectives
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and translate them into contractual terms
Contract Monitoring and Management
- Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with terms and conditions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records and documentation
- Track key contract milestones, deliverables, and renewal dates
- Address any issues or disputes that arise during the contract lifecycle and work towards timely resolution
- Identify opportunities to improve contract management processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support to project managers and other staff on contract management best practices
- Facilitate training sessions on contract procedures and compliance requirements as needed
Risk Management and Compliance
- Conduct regular audits of contracts to ensure ongoing compliance with organizational policies and legal standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance contract management efficiency.
- Stay current with industry trends and changes in legislation affecting contracts and advise the organization accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field
- A Master’s degree, Juris Doctor (JD), or certification in contract management is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably within a nonprofit or environmental organization
- Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
- Strong understanding of contract law including legal terminology and legal principles
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite
