Position Overview:
The Communications and Operations Manager supports Dendrifund’s goals and objectives, primarily in communications and operations. They tell the story of Dendrifund; the foundation’s work and the impact of its triple-bottom-line outcomes – improving the natural, social, and economic environment. Additionally, they offer essential support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, ensuring operational efficiency and success, while independently managing their own priorities and workload with a great deal of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications Content Development & Management (60%)
· Work with the Executive Director to create a digital, print, and in-person communication strategy that supports all parts of Dendrifund’s mission and initiatives, effectively storytelling the foundation’s mission, values, and successes.
· Design and execute a communication calendar focusing on donor relations that enlists deeper engagement and commitment.
· Produce and oversee a broad array of communication tools from concept to completion for the organization.
· Plan, prepare, and distribute original content such as articles, news and press releases, case studies, email, event invitations, blog and social media posts, and other updates on behalf of the organization.
· Collaborate with the Executive Director to design and facilitate internal and external convenings with stakeholders, partners, and the community as appropriate.
· Create and manage all website updates and content using Square Space.
· Help lead planning and facilitation of organizational events, including but not limited to donor events, educational programs, and community conversations.
· Develop and obtain (as-needed) information collection to support foundation work (i.e. surveys, event RSVPs and virtual events).
· Serve as a Dendrifund ambassador by attending community events, delivering presentations at community gatherings, and representing the foundation in media interviews.
· Develop media relationships as needed.
Operations and Board Coordination Management (40%)
· Research, identify, and select business partnerships (i.e. accounting firms, insurance providers, event locations/caterers, etc.).
· Establish processes for annual review of business partners and outcomes ensuring accountability and compliance.
· Manage legal matters (i.e., update bylaws, trademark renewals, non-profit reporting requirements, MOUs, Conflict of Interest statements, etc.).
· Support Executive Director in financial planning, research, entry, and tracking.
· Outline and manage requirements, schedules, and calendars for tax submission, bill payment, and other non-profit reporting to ensure continued legal compliance.
· Oversee financial accounting transactions for quarterly and annual reporting.
· Schedule and support the board/committees and external events, including online meetings, ensure compliance with Roberts Rules of Order (i.e. Executive Session), record and distribute meeting minutes and pre/post meeting documents and other support needs as identified.
· Prepare, print, and mail correspondence information as needed (minimal).
Skills and Requirements:
· Superior communication skills in all forms including storytelling, copywriting, and copyediting skills.
· Ability to adapt and respond to difficult questions and issues.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to successfully execute and utilize digital communication strategies.
· Strong time management and organizational skills, including the ability to independently plan and prioritize a full workload.
Technology Requirements:
· Must be highly proficient in Square Space to develop and post content on the web platform.
· Working knowledge of software platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite, Square Space, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and Canva, and virtual meeting platforms such as Google Meet, TEAMS, or Zoom, virtual meeting platforms for collaboration (using white boards, etc.), Airtable (for RSVPs and meeting planning).
· Manage technology needs including but not limited to high-speed internet, laptop/computer, printer, and monitor. Will be responsible for managing IT support needs for their workstation/equipment.
· Proficient knowledge of social media for organizations, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and social media tools/Google Analytics.

Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably with at least four years of experience in a related field (communications, public or donor relations, marketing, or foundation management).
· Preferred experience with family, corporate or community foundation and/or non-profit organizations.
· Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
· Demonstrated experience in board, committee, or donor relationship building.
· Community-minded and committed to the mission of Dendrifund.

Other requirements:
· A small team environment requires everyone to help achieve organizational goals by fulfilling other duties and responsibilities as needed.
· This is a sedentary role; however, the role may require walking, lifting, or standing for periods when hosting or representing the foundation at community functions. Will also require farm and forest visits and time in the outdoors. Occasionally, you may need to lift boxes, marketing collateral, displays or other supplies of up to 20 pounds, bending or standing, as necessary.
· Finalists will be requested to perform pre-employment screening/testing, including a criminal background check.
