Climate change, supply chain, and human capital are just a few of the critical environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues that investors need to consider when assessing risk and opportunity. Bloomberg Intelligence’s ESG team provides the research and data necessary to help our clients make these assessments, and to gain insight into the potential direction of a company, industry, or market.


We are looking for a highly-motivated research analyst to join our team on a temporary basis through February 14. The role will focus on BI’s carbon product and the maintenance of ESG industry primers.

BI research is a combination of written analysis accompanied by interactive charting and analytics that provide deep insight into where industries and investment market trends stand today and where they may be heading next.


We’ll trust you to:

  • Leverage your ESG-related knowledge to contribute to BI’s Carbon product and our ESG industry primers.
  • Publish market-leading research that focuses on climate-related themes, and embeds BI Carbon data and models.
  • Research industry specific ESG issues, gather data, identify leaders and laggards, and publish insights in ESG Industry Primers
  • Plan, coordinate, and review the development of company-specific carbon forecast models.
  • Assist in the development of additional climate-related data and models, including BI’s damages tracker and climate enablers product.


You’ll need to have:

  • Four or more years of ESG research experience, with significant exposure to climate-related data and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and the ability to examine financial materiality associated with ESG-related risks and opportunities, and the metrics used to measure performance.
  • Understanding of key scientific, policy, and market developments related to ESG that continue to shape corporate action and investment decisions.
  • Knowledge of broader financial markets.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting financial statements and performing quantitative financial analysis.
  • Extraordinary primary research and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, independent-thinker, and collaborative team-player.


We’d love to see:

  • Previous experience with the Bloomberg Terminal
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python
  • Master's degree or advanced certification such as a CFA charterholder.
  • Knowledge of quantitative modelling and statistical analysis
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python


Salary Range = 100 - 150 USD Hourly


The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
